![]() Just because “Mario” is adapted from one of the most popular video games doesn’t mean the film was preordained for blockbuster status. “The film is based on incredible IP, which is beloved by people of different generations,” says Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, president of distribution for Universal Pictures International. Thanks to a heaping dose of nostalgia and positive word-of-mouth (reviews… not so much), “Mario” turned into a four-quadrant blockbuster - resonating with males and females, young and old, who grew up with Mario, Luigi and other inhabitants of the fantastical Mushroom Kingdom. ![]() The PG film, which cost Universal, Illumination and Nintendo roughly $100 million to bring to the big screen, thrived as the de facto choice among family crowds, who have been starved of compelling theatrical offerings since last December’s release, “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.”īut the kid-friendly film also managed to expand its reach beyond parents with young ones.

![]() ![]() The full game is also launching on PlayStation consoles on March 31st. The free update will be available to all owners (and Game Pass subscribers) on March 30th. It’s what made me finally download the RPG, and with the final update incoming, it might not be a bad time for you either.Ĭitizen Sleeper is out now for £17/$20/€20 on Steam, and it’s also available on Game Pass. Hayden reflects on the bleakness of the real world, how Citizen Sleeper works as cathartic hopefulness, and how Starfield’s endless galaxy seems tedious, in comparison. In his review, Brendan Caldwell called the game “a stylish machine with a gooey human heart,” and the hype persisted long enough for Citizen Sleeper to make it onto RPS’ 2022 game of the year list.Īlthough, my favourite RPS piece about Citizen Sleeper is Hayden’s feature on how it made him less excited for Starfield. Citizen Sleeper was showered with praise when it was released last year, and RPS was a part of the flower-throwing parade. While details are sparse, if Purge is anything like the base game, it’ll be a banger. ![]() Developer Jump Over The Age say that “players returning to Erlin’s Eye might even find themselves running into some familiar faces!” The roadmap also teases that the “story of the Flotilla, the Eye, and the wider Helion system comes to a turning point.” Purge is introducing a new narrative arc alongside more characters, locations, and lore.ĭetails for Episode: Purge are vague, but we know it’ll expand on the story from the first two updates. DLC for Citizen Sleeper was first announced last summer through a post-launch content roadmap, and with Episode: Flux and Episode: Refuge out the door, it’s now time for Episode: Purge, free for all owners on March 30th. Dystopian tabletop-ish RPG Citizen Sleeper is receiving its third and final DLC episode at the end of the month. Historians have claimed that a 'new monarchy arose with the coming of Henry VII, that a new age was inaugurated, vigorous in administration, ambitious in its European and global performance. The Hollow Crown brilliantly brings to life for the reader a world we have long lost - a strange, Catholic, rural country of monks, peasants, knights and merchants, almost perpetually at war - but continues to define so much of England's national myth. For the first time in a generation, a historian has had the vision and confidence to write a spell-binding account of the era immortalised by Shakespeare's history plays. The extraordinary artistic achievements - the great churches, castles and tombs that still dominate the landscape, the birth of the English language in The Canterbury Tales. ![]() ![]() The extraordinary events - the Black Death that destroyed a third of the population, the Peasants' Revolt, the Wars of the Roses, the Battle of Agincourt. ![]() The extraordinary kings - Edward III and Henry V, the great warriors, Richard II and Henry VI, tragic inadequates killed by their failure to use their power, and Richard III, the demon king. There is no more haunting, compelling period in Britain's history than the later middle ages. ![]() There’s a slight drop in graphical fidelity from the PS4 version to get this working on Switch, but the mission structure, combat system and overall vibe of the thing do suit the Switch better. So I gave it another spin, and as it turns out, I was right. ![]() However, I did think that this would be a more natural fit for the handheld console, as it has all of those qualities about it: it’s a relatively streamlined, fairly short action-brawler, with a simple (but vibrant) visual style that wouldn’t have lost much on the smaller screen. I almost wasn’t going to play this version at all, as the updates that were being trumpeted in the PR were relatively minor, and while I like this game a lot, I find myself with less and less time to play even the best games that I like. I’m going to simply copy in a big chunk of my original review of Neptunia X Senran Kagura: Ninja Wars on PlayStation 4 for this review of the new Nintendo Switch edition. |
